Jephthah Art Residency
Uganda's first trauma-informed art residency dedicated to restoring the dignity, potential, and leadership capacity of former street-connected boys.
About Jephthah
Jephthah is Uganda's first trauma-informed art residency dedicated to restoring the dignity, potential, and leadership capacity of former street-connected boys in Uganda.
Inspired by the biblical story of Jephthah (Judges 11:1-32), this faith-rooted program offers healing through creative expression, vocational training, mentorship, and safe residential care.
Our Mission
To restore, equip, and launch former street-connected boys into a life of dignity, leadership, and divine purpose through trauma-informed creative expression.

Opening of the Residence
In January 2025, Streetlights Uganda officially opened the Jephthah Art Residence in Nsambya-Kirombe zone, a suburb in Kampala, welcoming eleven boys into a safe, family-like transitional home. The residence provided consistent shelter and daily meals while creating a nurturing environment where children could begin to heal.
Through structured art therapy and creative expression, the boys were encouraged to process trauma and rediscover their sense of identity. Home-based learning was implemented to bridge academic gaps, alongside ongoing psychosocial and spiritual support to promote emotional stability and personal growth.
